Art, History and Library Visits!

8th Nov 2024

P6 pupils have enjoyed visiting the library for book-focused lessons, delivered by the friendly staff over a four week block. Our formal visits are now over, but we will be visiting the library for pleasure on a number of occasions later in the year.

In our Arts lessons, we have just started our 'European Art' topic, and have enjoyed the opportunities for group and individual work it has given us so far. We have focused on sharing our opinions on art, artist techniques and their inspiration for each piece. We are currently working on our sketching skills, creating pieces based on the work of Anselm Kiefer.

In our World Around Us lessons, we have just completed our 'Vikings' topic. Our work in this topic included researching and creating Viking shields. We learned a lot of interesting facts about Viking shields - did you know that the colour of a Viking's shield could also have meaning? For example, red shields often signaled war!

P6 are looking forward to our new WAU topic 'Europe', were we will study the geography of Europe and World War 2, amongst other things!
