P4 and P6 Blast off with Books!!!

This week the Primary 4 and Primary 6 children started off their year by getting into the world of books. Each class visited the library in Portrush where Karen and Joan, the library staff, introduced them to the world of the library. The focus was on fiction books and Karen explained how the books were organised and the children had opportunities to talk about their favourite authors. Karen then read them a Roald Dahl story, this being his anniversary week. By this stage Joan had library cards sorted for all the newcomers and the children then had fun selecting books to take home. Both classes have two more visits which they are really looking forward to and the hope is that these children will continue to use the library and in doing so help the seeds of their knowledge to grow.
